On November 4, local time, Brazilian President Lula signed a bill to temporarily move Brazil's capital from Brasilia to Belem during the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, from November 11 to 21, 2025.
The Brazilian government says that the temporary relocation of the capital is both symbolic and political, and in addition to highlighting Brazil's commitment to Global climate issues, it also reinforces the importance of the Amazon in the international environmental agenda.
All decrees issued during this period, including those of the President of the Republic and Ministers, are registered in Belém, and the executive, legislative and judicial branches can carry out their institutions and government activities in the City of Belém.
